2012 Line-Up
A sensational open-air festival of jazz and swing featuring World-class musicians in a big open-air festival atmosphere!
The Alan Barnes All Star Jazz Band
Eight outstanding musicians from the world of jazz join together to entertain and dazzle you with jazz and swing classics from across the decades, plus standards from the great American songbook, and perhaps a hint of Latin-groove thrown in!This fabulous octet is led by world-class virtuoso Alan Barnes on alto sax and clarinet. Twice BBC Jazz Instrumentalist of the Year, Alan’s prolific career has seen him performing and recording with many of the UK’s greatest jazz bands and orchestras.
For Midsummer Jazz, Alan has assembled a terrific line-up of top musicians. Centre stage will be vocalist Jacqui Hicks, whose career has taken her around the World with jazz-funk band ‘Shakatak’! Alan’s All Stars also feature the effervescent trumpeter Bruce Adams, subtle pianist Craig Milverton, dynamic percussionist Bobby Worth, the driving basslines of Dave Green, plus ‘the World’s best trombonist’ Roy Williams and renowned jazz guitarist Dominic Ashworth.
The Temperance Seven
Who could have predicted that a band, which hit the top of the charts in 1961 with a song and style that were already forty years out of date, would still be around in 2012 playing the same style of music, which is now nearly 90 years out of date! The original members have all long ceased to appear with the band, but regardless of the past history, the fact is that The Temperance Seven exist today, playing what they like, in a way that they like, and their enjoyment is transmitted to their audiences wherever they play.
Is Midsummer Jazz ready for The Temperance Seven?!
